During the Ryukyu Kingdom, Sogenji Temple was an important location for the ceremony (Yusai) to honor the spirit of the former king when Chinese envoys, known as "sapposhi," visited Ryukyu. However, the site of Sogenji Temple is now a place for local residents to engage in activities and relax, and the history of the temple's reverence and worship has faded from people's minds. Additionally, many historical sites in the area of old Naha, including Sogenji Temple, no longer exist, making it difficult to recall what it was like in the past.

We used various methods to visualize historical sites where the appearance of the past no longer exists.
By holding up a smartphone, visitors can get a glimpse of historical sites and scenes of people who lived in Naha by using AR (virtual reality), as well as animations of anecdotes related to Sogenji Temple and a video using a full-color 3D CG reconstruction model of the temple, which provides an opportunity to intuitively consider the temple's indispensable role in the Ryukyu Kingdom. In addition, to help visitors understand Sogenji Temple in a relative context, we have also produced a video that focuses on related historical sites and events, focusing on the timeline before and after the temple's existence.
The content was created to allow visitors to experience the essential value of Sogenji Temple through a variety of methods, including video, AR, and a quiz rally, with the aim of encouraging them to tour the city.
