Future Sci Tech Lab is a cutting-edge research facility focusing on ultra-high speed quantum optical communication and plant factories that use new light sources such as LEDs for space development. Taking the common keywords of both research projects, "light" and "space," as motifs, we have shaped the exterior of the building based on the theories and ideas that extend from the research and experimental themes conducted here, and created an artwork of light called "Cosmic Photon Streams." We were responsible for the planning, design, construction, and installation.
The light-filled exterior of the building is designed to capture natural radiation from space using sensors, while the light from hundreds of ultra-bright light-emitting diodes is diffused by large crystals, creating a variety of different light expressions that change with the seasons and time of day.
